Michael David Mason

NEWPORT NEWS - Michael David Mason, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Michael was born in Mansfield, Ohio, February 3, 1957, to the late Clarence and Jaunatcha Mason. He retired after 23 years of service in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant. During his military career, Michael was a infantryman, parachutist, chorus member, and, for the majority of his career, a Master Diver. Following his military retirement, Michael was employed at Hampton Roads Academy for 12 years in the IT department. In his free time, he was an expert martial artist and avid kayaker. Upon leaving Hampton Roads Academy in 2012, Michael practiced yoga, apprenticed with a gunsmith, and read and sung to his granddaughters. He was also a "kid at heart" and a kind and loving husband and father. His biggest accomplishment, he would say, was marrying his wife of 21 years -�Kunnicar Mason. He's also survived by his son -�Eric Green and his wife, Erin, and their daughter, Elle, of Norfolk, VA; his son - Randy Green and his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Addison, of Hampton, VA.
